On the 8th, at noon, we observed, in lat. 68 30' and long. 57 27' Thurs' 8' being 6' 51 to the southward, and 9' 53 to the eastward of the dead reckon ing, We sounded in a hundred and seventy-eight fathoms' water, the bottom being of the same nature as on the preceding day.
