Nous ne chercherons pas viter l'examen de la question de l'origine du langage. C'est une question purement anthropologique. Sans nous occuper des r veries auxquelles elle a donn lieu, nous la traiterons uniquement au point de vue de l'histoire naturelle, e'est- -dire de l'anatomie et de la physiologie. Le langage articul est un fait naturel, soumis, comme tout autre fait lmvestigation libre et d sint ress e, et ce nest pas une entreprise t m raire que d'aborder la question de son origine.
