Synopses & Reviews
This is the latest edition of the acclaimed Landmarks of New York, the definitive, must-have reference book for all New York City history and architecture enthusiasts. The Landmarks of New York III expands upon the official landmarks and historic districts documented in two previous volumes, and incorporates a completely new section of more than 100 recently designated landmark buildings, interiors, and 12 historic districts.
Spanning three centuries, the landmarks are arranged chronologically by date of construction and provide an overview of New York City's rich and varied architectural heritage. From little-known buildings and out-of-the-way places to some of the grandest and most celebrated buildings in the world, each site is explained by black-and-white illustrations together with succinct, informative text. New to this expanded edition are such exciting structures as the futuristic Unisphere, symbol of the 1964-65 Worlds Fair in Queens, the Art Deco-detailed Brooklyn Public Library, and the ornate Loew's Paradise Theater in The Bronx.
