This is a spectacular book. 652 11.5" by 11.5" pages of plants that grow in California. There are extensive lists divided into California native, Mediterranean, Southwestern, subtropical, woodland, Asian, coastal and invasive plants. There are more lists dived into plant types: flowering trees, vines, etc. There are plants listed by 18 functional and aesthetic categories from flowering trees to variegated foliage to butterfly plants to bioswales. There is detailed information on watering needs and irrigation. Best of all are almost 500 pages of the plants with an average of more than five color photographs per page. Each plant has detailed descriptions of the plant, uses, soil needs, irrigation needs, pluses and minuses of each variety listed and pictured and more.
