Coverage begins with general AutoCAD two-dimensional concepts and progresses to develop drafting skills in both the mechanical and architectural disciplines. Users will explore integrated projects such as a site plan, floor plan, and elevation of a house. Mechanical projects include the design of a prybar, a baseball bat, and a spatula, as well as several other projects. Projects are created through step-by-step instructions that showcase the power of AutoCAD.
About the Author
Thomas M. Singer is an Associate Professor of Industrial Design and Graphic Technology with Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH. For over 17 years he has been actively involved in the instruction of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD). Mr. Singer's instructional expertise in the areas of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional drafting, solids modeling, animation, and basic parametric design has awarded him with the distinction of becoming a Certified Autodesk Instructor for many of the Autodesk products. He was selected as the award winner from Sinclair Community College for Innovative Excellence in instruction at the International Conference on College Teaching and Learning in 2001. Tom was also elected to sit on the Autodesk Training Center Executive Committee, which is the representative body for the Autodesk Training Center Network. He has also been involved extensively in program accreditation and has sat on the Board of Accreditation for the National Association of Industrial Technology. A graduate of Southern Illinois University with a BS in Industrial Technology and a Master of Arts from Wright State University in Computer Education; Tom has accepted and maintains association to many professional organizations including the National Association of Industrial Technology, and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Additionally, he is listed in Who?s Who in Education. Mrs. Marika Snider, Associate Professor of Architectural Technology at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, OH, has been involved with the use and instruction of AutoCAD software in both her career in the private sector, and in her teaching career. She teaches a variety of architecture technology classes including CAD, architectural design using CAD, architecture history and manual drafting. She has also taught a number of corporate training classes in the use of AutoCAD software sponsored by Sinclair. Marika is a licensed architect in the states of Ohio and Kansas, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). She is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute, SIGGRAPH (computer graphics) and the Association for Computing Machinery. Marika is the chief Architect and owner of Snider Associates Architecture, a commercial architecture firm in Dayton, OH.
