Malgre l'etendue du livre que nous publions, et le plaisir qu'un auteur trouve toujours dons l'analyse du caractere de ses personnages, il n'entre point dans notre plan de suivre jour par jour la vie de nos trois jeunes gens; ce que nous aurions lait si nous eussions publie leur histoire isolee, mais ce que nous n'osons risquer, du moment que cette histoire n'est qu'un episode de ce grand tout que nous livrons a la curiosite de nos lecteurs.
Nous dirons donc seulement que Camille executa ses desseins comme il les avait exposes a Colomban.
Carmelite, n'ayant pas d'objection a faire pour la remuneration de son travail eu voyant le prix exorbitant des factures de Camille, accepta l'offre du jeune.
