Every year, the booksellers at Powell’s submit their Top Fives: their five favorite books that were released in 2023. Small-town preacher's daughter Catherine Grace Cline has one ambition in life-- leaving Ringgold, Georgia. She sets her sights on Atlanta, for though it is only a few hours away, Atlanta feels as though it is actually worlds away. In the meantime, weekly visits to the Dairy Queen [to partake of Eddie Franklins' perfectly made Dilly Bars] keeps her sane and her eyes on the ultimate prize-- freedom! A charming coming-of-age novel.
