Synopses & Reviews
The Lord-Protectors Daughter is a standalone fantasy novel that takes place in Tempre, the capital city of Lanachrona on Corus, the world of Modesitts Corean Chronicles.
Mykella, the eldest daughter of the Lord-Protector of Lanachrona, discovers that someone is diverting significant sums of money from her fathers treasury. One of the ancient soarers appears to Mykella, telling her that she must go to the antique stone Table in the cellars of the Palace and find her Talent in order to save her land and her world.
From there, matters become more perilous. There are attempts to remove Mykella and her sisters from Tempre by marrying them off to lords in neighboring lands, and fatal and near fatal accidents occur to members of her family and trusted retainers. While Mykella develops a solid idea of who stands behind it all, every attempted solution is used to discredit her. How can she save their father and land?

“A thunderous, satisfying climax.… Modesitts panoramic, battle-filled final installment ranks among his best work.”
—Publishers Weekly (starred review) on Soarers Choice
“The characters have become more fascinating with each novel; moreover, this one includes even more action than either of its predecessors…which contributes mightily to bringing the adventures of Dainyl, Alector of Corus, and Mykel, an officer in the native military corps, to a stunning conclusion while leaving enough unanswered questions for many more Corean stories.”
—Booklist (starred review) on Soarers Choice
“A powerful, enthralling, and exciting fantasy epic.”
—Midwest Book Review on Scepters

“Legacies is for people who . . . want to see their characters grow and like to fill in the blanks themselves rather than have the author do it for them. . . . With a likable character in an intriguing land, Legacies is off to a promising start.”
