Written from the perspective of a boy reluctantly keeping a journal in poetry class, we only ever hear his side of the story. Each page has a very sparse amount of text, and the whole book reads very quickly, but can be read over and over. It is an excellent stealth introduction to poetry for those who don't think they will like poetry.
Because we only have the boy's side of the conversation with his teacher in the journal, reading this book feels a bit like completeing a puzzle. Highly rewarding for all ages. Adults will enjoy recognizing the poems they had to study as children, and children will get an unobtrusive introduction to well-known poems that pervade our culture.
Fun and easy.
