Synopses & Reviews
Madame Sonia Delaunay is a pop-up book inspired by the work of 20th-century painter and theater, textile, and fashion designer Sonia Delaunay (1885andndash;1979), who was known for her vivid use of color and bold, abstract patterns. Renowned art director and paper engineer Gandeacute;rard Lo Monaco has created this clever book, published to coincide with a major international exhibition of Delaunayandrsquo;s work, featuring pop-up illustrations based on her paintings, textiles, and costume designs.
Lo Monacoandrsquo;s highly expressive gouache illustrations convey the same energy and verve as Delaunayandrsquo;s original artworks, which, for reference, are reproduced at the back of the book. Fun rhyming verses accompany each pop-up, offering children a way of looking at the images. Readers will not only be informed and amused but also inspired by this contemporary interpretation of Delaunayandrsquo;s work.

About the Author
andldquo;A fish and a teardrop. Five black spots, four blossoms blue, and a T that is white. A heart and an arabesque. A smile, a black Q, and a reflection of you.andrdquo; These are just some of the hundreds of objects readers are invited to find in David Carterandrsquo;s latest art pop-up book,
Hide and Seek. His previous art pop-up titles,
One Red Dot, 600 Black Spots, and other bestsellers, which have sold hundreds of thousands of copies around the world, asked readers to find a single image hidden within ten pop-up kinetic sculptures. With
Hide and Seek, he has expanded the concept and now includes hundreds of images or words hidden within the pop-up landscapes, inviting readers to explore and discover something new with each visit.
Praise for Hide and Seek
