Synopses & Reviews
A beautiful visual lesson in mixing colors This second title in a series from eminent paper engineer James Diaz is about color mixing. Mix the two colors on each spread and see the result in each ingenious pop-up. Pull the tab on the final spread to see primary and secondary colors and another special pop.
"In this companion to Making Shapes, geometric pop-ups demonstrate how primary colors combine to form secondary colors. On one spread, green concentric circles emerge from facing yellow and blue pages: 'Bump together blue and yellow to produce green.' Elsewhere, a cluster of orange bubbles bursts outward, curling black and white tendrils turn gray as they meet, and purple oval rings bend toward each other each pop-up is distinctive and evocative. On the final pages, a towering pile-up of squares in pale blues, deep magentas, and soft greens should leave readers with the sense of the many possibilities of color combination. Ages 5 up.
