Excerpt from Memoirs of the California Academy of Sciences, Vol. 4: The Fishes of Panama Bay
A single specimen taken, 27 cm. Long. The body and fins are light brown ish, marked with small black spots about as large as pupil, those in front of dorsal arranged rather uniformly in cross-series. Snout unspotted. Lower side of head whitish, unspotted.
