About the Author
Clement Hurd (1908 1988) spent much of his life illustrating children's books. After studying art in Paris, he began his career as a freelance artist and muralist, then became an illustrator at the encouragement of Margaret Wise Brown, with whom he produced two of the twentieth century's most well-known and beloved books, Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. He also collaborated on more than fifty books with his wife, the writer Edith Thacher Hurd.
