L. Smith Hobart, of Michigan, Secretaries. The number of churches existing in 1852 has not been accurately determined, because of the non-existence of statistical tables at that time. But judging from reports in 1847 and 1858, the number in 1852 was not far from one thousand nine hundred and fifty.
