Weird! But, then, that’s to be expected in a mystery story where the central element is a food truck. All seems to auger well for our protagonist, as she takes over the unexpected inheritance from a recently deceased aunt. Though her one employee, who came with the truck, is singularly uncommunicative, he is an excellent cook, and the enterprise is soon thriving. But that’s when the owner of a nearby, rival food truck is found decapitated, and you can probably guess who the prime suspect is.
There are other deaths along the way, at least one equally gruesome, others simply “unexplained.” And there are many other mysteries on that same route, ranging from loot that has never been recovered, to an invalid will leaving the food truck to the taciturn worker.
The plot is complex, and as puzzling for the local police as it is for the reader. But the threads are tied together at the end (most of them, anyway) and that reader will have had an afternoon of entertaining reading.
