Synopsis
Excerpt from Ninth Annual Report of the State Board of Health of the State of Rhode Island: For the Year Ending December 31, 1886, and Including the Report Upon Births, Marriages and Deaths in 1885
It is with great satisfaction that the Secretary can report the con tinned average good health of nearly all parts Of the State, during 1886. Since the largely fatal epidemic of scarlatina in Westerly, during the winter of 1884 - 85, and the following spring, no epidemic attended with a large death rate has occurred in the State. Several forms Of disease, classed as miasmatic were quite largely prevalent in a few towns, during 1886, and in a still fewer number Of towns had epidemic prevalence, but unattended with large fatality.
