Synopses & Reviews
This wire-comb-bound clinical handbook encourages a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to provide continuity of care for children with rheumatic diseases. Featuring 230 color photos and illustrations, plus bulleted lists, tables, and boxes for quick access to information, the book will be useful as a resource for allied health professionals. Sections 1-3 provide a quick reference to the diseases, their assessment, and therapeutic management. Section 4 provides in-depth information on assessment and treatment approaches and techniques. Tests and outcome measures are included which are useful for clinical and research purposes. The joint-specific section may be particularly useful for the busy therapist wishing to concentrate on one problem area. Section 5, authored by eight specialist practitioners, provides an overview of the medical, nursing, and social work management of rheumatic diseases. Section 6 provides reproducible handouts and resources for patients, families, teachers, and coaches. Kuchta and Davidson are affiliated with the Vancouver Pediatric Rheumatology Program in Canada.
