Synopses & Reviews
In Of Flesh and Spirit, Wang Ping adopts a highly personal tone to explore the internal process of struggle -- the devils and angels -- highlighting moments of ecstasy throughout. Sometimes pastoral and other times raw, Ping recounts her relationships, her arrival and survival in New York, a trip to the Southwest United States, and her experience returning, to China after ten years of absence.
This collection adds depth and intimacy to her already revealing works. In addition to personal memories, Ping emphasizes the cultural neglect and importance of her female ancestors.
