Synopsis
Excerpt from On Active Service With Base Hospital 46, U. S. A: Mar; 20, 1918 to May 25, 1919
Commanding Officer, Base Hospital No. 46, October 1, 1918 until demobilized May 22, 1919.
W'hen Base Hospital No. 46 was organized, only one man was thought of for the directorship, the medical officer who would really be the Father of the Unit. In the Fall of 1917, much of his time was devoted to the preliminary steps of organization, to the selection of nurses and personnel and all the details that constantly developed.
During mobilization, on our trip over and in our work in the A. E. F., his associates have always felt that the good work done by the unit was largely due to his steady hand on the, wheel, and his common sense in adjusting difficulties.
