Nathaniel Fick shows his Dartmouth education in the writing of "One Bullet Away". His writing is fluent and easy to read and understand, even when writing about complicated military missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. The clear descriptions of Marine Officer training takes you right inside Quantico and Camp Pendleton (Force Recon) leaving you experiencing conditions right along with Fick. I have personally known Marines who were involved in Vietnam and Iraq who realized the same things about leadership as Lt. Fick did. I was sucked into the action and decision making as though I was standing next to him. Anyone who is considering becoming an Officer in any of the military branches needs to read this book.
