If you like Terry Pratchett, you are going to adore Patrick Weekes. The Palace Job is an epic heist novel that starts off when a woman by the name of Isafesira de Lochenville, nicknamed Loch, is falsely accused of a crime and sentenced to a lifetime in prison. This, along with her precious family heirloom being stolen by her accuser, motivates her to escape the prison and take back what's hers to clear her name. But no one can go on such a caper on their own, and the team that Loch assembles is as incredulous as the situations that lie ahead of her. Alongside a thief, a wizard, a death priestess, a unicorn, and a talking war hammer, Loch journeys off on a quest that is so hilarious and page-turning that readers will not want to put this book down. The Palace Job shines through in its characters, wit, and storytelling that might remind readers of other epic adventures such as Ocean's Eleven or the Gentleman Bastard series.
If you're looking for a feel-good heist novel that will keep you laughing, this is the book for you! And if you find yourself enjoying The Palace Job, than I highly recommend checking out the rest of the Rogues of the Republic series. The Palace Job is only the first book in the trilogy!
