About the Author
andlt;Bandgt;Jiang Weiqiaoandlt;/bandgt; (1873-1958) is famous for his influential book andlt;iandgt;Yinshizi's Method'of Quiet Sittingandlt;/iandgt; which he wrote after curing his pulmonary tuberculosis through the practice of Jing Gong. His other major work is andlt;iandgt;General Discourse on Buddhist Studiesandlt;/iandgt;.andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt;andlt;Bandgt;Chen Yingningandlt;/Bandgt; (1880-1969), Daoist name andlt;Iandgt;Yuandunziandlt;/iandgt;, spent over sixty years as a devoted scholar of Daoist teachings and gained considerable expertise on Daoist breathing methods. In the 1930s, he worked as chief editor of andlt;iandgt;Daoist Virtues Biweeklyandlt;/iandgt; and andlt;iandgt;Daoists' Monthlyandlt;/iandgt;, and wrote multiple volumes on Daoism. After 1957 he served as Vice Director, and later, Director of the Chinese Daoist Association.
