Synopses & Reviews
This manual on rafter layout and construction procedures has been written for the vocational agriculture instructor, the industrial education instruction and the home handyman. This booklet, containing step-by-step procedures, should also be used by the high school student. The booklet contains facts and explanations on how to use the framing square, both English and Metric, and the basic principles involved.
Rafter layout for many small buildings can be accomplished by holding the lumber in place and marking. Though effective, the principles involved with the use of the framing square are not understood. The framing square may be used to lay out braces, stairs and sawhorses in addition to rafters. Exercises are provided in this manual for practice layout prior to the actual layout on 2x4's or other construction materials.
