About the Author
Dr. Gary D. McKay, Ph.D. is the coauthor with Dr. Don Dinkmeyer, Sr, Dr. Joyce L. McKay and others of 11 books and parent and teacher education programs including STEP, the world’s leading parent education program.
He holds a Ph.D. in counseling and guidance from the University of Arizona and is a licensed psychologist, and clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. A former teacher and counselor, and an international educational and psychological consultant, he has conducted workshops in human relations and is the co-leader of a family education program in Tucson, Arizona.
He has received awards for contributions to the counseling field from the Adlerian Society of Arizona, North American Society of Adlerian Psychology and the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors and served on a Presidential committee as a consultant to Office for Substance Abuse Prevention, National Implementation Program: Parents' Advisory Committee.
Dr. Joyce L. McKay, Ph.D. coauthored with Dr. Don Dinkmeyer, Sr, Dr. Gary D. McKay and others 7 books and parent and teacher programs including Early Childhood STEP and STEP/Teen.
She holds a Ph.D. in counseling and guidance from the University of Arizona and is a certified professional counselor, past president of the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology, and currently the Conference Coordinator for that organization. A former teacher and counselor, and an international educational and psychological consultant she has conducted workshops worldwide and is former Director of a nationally recognized career education program and has served as educational consultant to former Governor of Arizona Bruce Babbitt.
She coauthored Drug Free 1 & 2 and has received awards for contributions to the counseling field from the Adlerian Society of Arizona, and the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors.
Dr. Daniel Eckstein, Ph.D., is currently Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology, Ottawa University, Phoenix Campus. He is also an adjunct professor for the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Toronto; the Arizona School of Professional Psychologists and Northern Arizona University, both in Phoenix.
As president of Encouraging Leadership, Inc., Dr. Eckstein is an international teacher and consultant in business management for Sarjana Colleges, Malaysia; Ottawa International, Phoenix, AZ; and the Singapore Civil Service College. Dr. Eckstein is coauthor of nine books including Leadership by Encouragement.
Dr. Steven A. Maybell, Ph.D., has over 25 years of experience as a counselor and parent educator. He is a certified marriage and family therapist, clinical social worker and a diplomate in Adlerian Psychology (NASAP) and Professional Psychotherapy (IABMCP). He is currently the Clinical Director for Youth Eastside Services in Bellevue, Washington.
