Synopses & Reviews
On My Own Holidays takes a look at the history and customs of holidays celebrated around the world. With explanations for many of the customs associated with each holiday, each book will also provide ideas for activities that can be done to celebrate each holiday. Muslims all around the world celebrate Ramadan to honor God. Ramadan lasts one month. During every day in that month, Muslims cannot eat food between sunrise and sunset. Then, each night at sunset, they say special prayers and eat a special meal. After almost four weeks of fasting this way, they have a great three-day festival called Eid al-Fitr to celebrate the challenges they met during Ramadan and the coming year.
