Synopses & Reviews
In the fourteenth Redwall novel by New York Times bestselling author Brian Jacques, the clan of Sawney Rath kidnaps one of Redwall's own a baby otter who they believe is destined to become their Taggerung, the warrior hero of ancient legend. But as the young Taggerung grows, he rebels against his destiny and goes off in search of the place he was born a home he can barely remember. Tagg is pursued by a member of Sawney's clan, out to destroy the deserter and claim the title of Taggerung. Is the otter the Taggerung after all? And if he is not, who is he?
"Jacques's characters vibrate with personality, and he clearly delineates the differences between a life of friendship and one of savagery. [Taggerung is] great fun, and not just for Redwall fans." Kirkus Reviews
"Readers will welcome the appearance of a new generation of Redwall creatures. Smart, athletic, and good-natured, Tagg is an appealing hero....As usual, the battle scenes are balanced by the antics of the Redwall inhabitants." Horn Book
"The Redwall plot features the author's trademark high good humor, scrumptious meals, and complex relationships, while the Taggerung plot line centers on Rath's increasing ferocity and Deyna's refusal to be corrupted by him. The two stories come together in the end in a satisfying if somewhat violent dénouement that should well please Jacques's legion of fans." VOYA
"Jacques works his expected yarn-telling magic in this fourteenth Redwall tale." Booklist
