Synopsis
Excerpt from Report of the Expedition for the Relief of Yellow-Fever Sufferers on the Lower Mississippi
No supplies were needed here, but we received contributions for delivery at Greenville, Miss., and ten tons of mail matter for delivery at points on the river as far down as Vicksburg. This mail had been accumulating at Memphis for some time, and was carefully fumigated with sulphur every night in the Memphis office, but when it came on board we had it disinfected with turpentine. The day is disagreeably warm and is becoming uncomfortable.
