Subject matters range from physics to the necessary cessation of dueling. Elizabeth I, James I, Lord Essex, the Cecils, and the Duke of Buckingham are all recipients of Bacon's letters and wisdom. A fascinating look at the England of the Tudors and Stuarts.
Contemporary mottled calf over boards, rebacked. Frontis of Lord Bacon worn at fore-edge. Marginal worming in first part to F3, not affecting text. Some notation in neat old hand; leaf N4 is filled with notes in old hand. Good condition.
