Synopsis
In a segregated watering hole on the edge of the Serengeti Plain, a young rhino named Romeo lives in the mucky section. One day he has the temerity to go to the unsoiled area, where he accidentally bumps into a young ostrich named Astrid, and sparks fly! Astrid confides in her sister her affection for Romeo, but her parents send him away in a torrent of insults. Then Romeo discovers a group of poachers who have their eyes set on the ostrich camp--Romeo just might save the day and discover that being friends with the ostriches can make life at the watering hole much more interesting. Told in language that young children will understand, this book includes an afterword that discusses issues of discrimination and exclusion from the child's perspective.
