Synopses & Reviews
One year has passed since the death of my wife, Phyllis. A few months ago, a Hospice of Chattanooga bereavement counselor asked me to consider a follow-up book to It Just Doesn't Make Sense, published by Xulon Press in 2009. Salt on My Boots is a continuation of the healing process from the grief that follows a great loss. Picking up at six months after her death and continuing to the one-year mark, the book contains encouragement, experiences, and things that helped to lift the fog of grief. Michael (Mike) Haynes is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He currently resides in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, near the Pisgah National Forest. A 1969 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Mike served in the Vietnam War in 1972 and 1973. He married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Floyd, a graduate of Tennessee Temple College, in 1970. They were married thirty-eight years and have two sons, two daughters-in-law, five granddaughters, and one grandson. Phyllis died in 2008. Mike is an Eagle Scout; retired from E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., Inc. of Wilmington, Delaware; holds a commercial pilot's certificate; and enjoys hiking, fishing, and volunteer work. He is a member of the Pisgah Forest Baptist Church.
