I got good grades at science in high school but don't remember a thing about anything I learned. This book got me interested in science again because it told stories that showed how people passionately believed, sometimes enough to die for, in ideas. (I especially remember Giordano Bruno's death for believing in a heliocentric universe) It also showed logically how one person's contributions led to the next person's discovery. (e.g. Tycho Brahe's theories were wrong but his methodology shaped astronomy) This is an excellent book.
