Ok. I will admit that the lure of this book was my having lived on Nantucket for many years as well as a love for Nathaniel Philbrick’s writing. I was not disappointed by this light yet enlightening read.
He describes a Nantucket that few see and interjects interesting facts about its history as a very important whaling port. You needn’t have ever gone there to enjoy this book.
His family dynamics provide an interesting backdrop to his obsession, my word not his, to get back in his sunfish that is overgrown with ivy and mildew. Never say never!
Summer is the perfect time to read this book!
