Synopses & Reviews
Kara Gillian is in some seriously deep trouble.
Shes used to summoning supernatural creatures from the demon realm to our world, but now the tables have been turned and shes the one whos been summoned. Kara is the prisoner of yet another demonic lord, but she quickly discovers that shes far more than a mere hostage. Yet waiting for rescue has never been her style, and Kara has no intention of being a pawn in someone elses game.
Theres intrigue to spare as she digs into the origin of the demonic lords and discovers the machinations of humans and demons alike. Kara is shocked to discover that she has her own history in the demon realm, and that the ties between her and the demonic lords Rhyzkahl and Szerain go back farther than she could have ever imagined. But treachery runs rampant among all the lords, and shes going to have to stay sharp in order to keep from being used to further their own agendas. The lords have a secret that dates back to earths ancient history, and it could have devastating repercussions for both worlds.
Yet more than anything else, Karas abilities as a homicide detective will be put to the testbecause this time the murder she has to solve is her own.
"A nifty combination of police procedural and urban fantasy."
"Mark of the Demon
crosses police procedure with weird magic. Diana Rowland's background makes her an expert in the former, and her writing convinces me she's also an expert in the latter in this fast-paced story that ends with a bang."
"Rowland’s world of arcane magic and demons is fresh and original...[and her] characters are well-developed and distinct.... Dark, fast-paced, and gripping."
"With each new chapter in this mesmerizing UF series, the gifted Rowland constructs her world and adds depth to her characters, all while giving readers clues to the over-arching plotline."
"Diana Rowland has built a fascinating and compelling urban fantasy series, with main character Kara as tough as she needs to be yet vulnerable enough to be realistic."
"Yet again, Diana Rowland has knocked my socks off with a stellar book that left me positively desperate for more."
"The sex definitely sizzles, the characters are engaging, the world is intriguing, and action pulled me right in. Highly recommended!"
"Rowland once again writes the perfect blend of police procedural and paranormal fantasy."
"Phenomenal world building, a tough yet vulnerable heroine, a captivating love triangle, and a increasingly compelling metanarrative that just gets juicier with each book.... Blows most other urban fantasies out of the park."
“Rowland’s delightful novel jumps genre lines with a little something for everyone—mystery, horror, humor, and even a smattering of romance. Not to be missed—all that’s required is a high tolerance for gray matter. For true zombiephiles, of course, that’s a no brainer.”
“An intriguing mystery and a hilarious mix of the horrific and mundane aspects of zombie life open a promising new series from Rowland…. Humor and gore are balanced by surprisingly touching moments as Angel tries to turn her (un)life around.”
"If you missed My Life as a White Trash Zombie, Rowland’s truly wonderful series starter about new zombie Angel Crawford, be sure to rectify that mistake and also pick up the next chapter about this amazingly engaging heroine. Rowland has come up with a perfect blend of creepy, scary, yet emotionally touching adventures for her gutsy and endearing heroine. Angel’s evolution from depressed loser to young woman learning to trust her instincts is entertainment at its best. Do not miss out on this exceptional series!"
“Equally gross and heartwarming, disgusting and riveting, My Life as a White Trash Zombie
is a clever read. If you like to see a flawed heroine pull herself back up, and can handle visceral imagery, it’s a brilliant book. Fans of Carolyn Crane, Stacia Kane and Allison Pang will dig on this one. Big time.”
"Rowland completely upends the Kara Gillan series in this installment. Everything we thought we knew about the inhabitants of Rowlands universe is called into question, with devastating results. Rising star Rowland kicks it into a whole new gear with this outstanding story that is heartbreaking, terrifying, and utterly thrilling
