I didn't know that it takes a woman an average of seven attempts before she can leave an abusive relationship, and that wasn't the only thing I learned from Jeannette Angell's collection of poetry on domestic violence. I leanred that the strongest hearts can break ... and then mend, become strong again. I learned that this can happen to anyone, to smart, funny, educated childless women (as the poet was when she experienced it). I learned, hopefully, to judge less and listen more. I'm especially impressed that Angell will be donating her profits to an agency that helps domestic violence survivors. That alone is a reason to buy as many copies as you can afford. Everyone should read this collection. It's not easy"but it's important.
