He won the James Beard Award for Best Northwest Chef in 1994 and was named the 2008 Bon Appétit Restaurateur of the Year. Since 1989, he has opened numerous popular and award-winning restaurants in Seattle. He was also an Iron Chef America contestant and winner on the Food Network. He lives in Prosser, Washington.
