Synopses & Reviews
"Each of these simple recipes from British chef Tanner (For Chocolate Lovers; Ice Cream) contains only five ingredients, and with these short recipes, Tanner hopes to create stress-free dishes that utilize fresh, seasonal products. Some recipes, such as Mom's roasted red peppers, and anchovies or crab linguine with basil, lemon and chili succeed at using few ingredients to create big flavors. (Take note that while Tanner vows to use easily sourced ingredients, a few items, such as green curry paste or gelatin sheets, may actually be out of reach for some home cooks.) Some will wish that the recipes included the flourishes that Tanner suggests but omits, such as the gruyère croutons for the French onion soup or the raspberry sauce to accompany the lemon tart. Though somewhat limited by just five ingredients, Tanner's emphasis on fresh and quality products makes this book a good resource for those looking to cook simply.
