Synopses & Reviews
From the coauthor of the #1 New York Times
bestseller American Sniper
comes a heart-pounding military thriller in which the fabled domestic Special Ops Black unit is activated in order to stop a group of Chechen terrorists from launching a pair of “suitcase” nukes somewhere in America.
When Chechen terrorists manage to smuggle a Cold War era Russian nuke across the Mexican-American border, the President is forced to reactivate the only unit capable of stopping them: Navy SEAL sniper Gil Shannon and his brash team of SEALs and Delta Force fighters. First introduced in Sniper Elite: One Way Trip, hailed by Publishers Weekly as a “meaty thriller” with “snappy dialogue and well-timed humor,” Shannon and his team were run out of the military after defying direct orders and instead choosing to save the life of one of their own.
In Target America, Gil and his team, many of whom had gone rogue, are reunited as an off-the-books Special Ops unit that must race against the clock to save the country from nuclear destruction.
#1 New York Times bestselling author Scott McEwen once again delivers a gripping and fast-paced adventure that illuminates the shadow world of clandestine military operations.
"At the start of bestseller McEwen and Koloniar's riveting sequel to 2013's Sniper Elite: One-Way Trip, members of the Riyad us-Saliheyn Martyrs' Brigade are smuggling a Russian RA-115 'suitcase' nuke through a tunnel underneath the border between Mexico and the U.S. The mission doesn't go as planned, and the American government learns that another RA-115 is already somewhere within the country. The CIA turns for help to Navy SEAL Gil Shannon, recently pulled out of retirement by Bob Pope, the loose-cannon director of the CIA's Special Activities Division, to track down two terrorists involved in the real-life attack on the American mission in Benghazi in 2012 that killed two SEALs. To locate the second nuke, Shannon puts together his old unit, SEAL Team Six Black, filled with the usual colorful characters. Meanwhile, various weenie government officials are quaking in their boots. A deadly terrorist attack on Gil's wife and her mother on their ranch in Montana is as good as any fictional battle scene in recent memory. Readers will want to see a lot more of SEAL Team Black. "Sniper Elite is a gripping, fast paced adventure. Packed with action, it takes the reader into the shadow world of real military operations. A great read - don't miss it!"
“Finally a military novel that pays attention to detail, and tells a great story, rarely do the two go together. Sniper Elite gets it right. Lace up your boots tight because you're about to move out, and learn what it's like to be a SEAL sniper."
“Target America delivers the goods. The harsh reality is that McEwen’s fiction isn't far from the truth. Few writers I know would have the guts to go there. McEwen does, and so should you.”
"Gil Shannon is the most addictive thriller character alive today. Pick up Target America and you will see why -- rapid-fire action, unforgettable characters, and explosive scenes."
