Synopses & Reviews
Showcasing for the first time selections from a notable online anthology, this volume captures New Zealands most exciting and memorable poetry in book form. The result is an indispensable guide to the richness, strangeness, and liveliness of contemporary poetry, featuring classic pieces by more than 60 poets, including Jenny Bornholdt, Allen Curnow, Sam Hunt, Cilla McQueen, Elizabeth Smither, and Ian Wedde. Compelling poems from new writers are also included, and each poets personal note on his or her selection illuminates this array of work. Revealing the first decade of the new century as a vibrant, argumentative, and restless period, this compilation depicts these poets as afraid of neither political engagement nor strong personal feeling.
