Synopsis
Excerpt from The Dance of Society: A Critical Analysis of All the Standard Quadrilles, Round Dances, 102 Figures of Le Cotillon (the German), Including Dissertations Upon Time and Its Accentuation, Carriage, Style, and Other Relative Matter
All square, contra and round dances not herein contained, have either received such little favor, have been so long in fashionable disuse, or are so outre, as to preclude their insar tien.
Those who know the fashionable round dances will readily acquire The German from the descriptions.
In the matter of etiquette l have been as brief as possible; in fact, I seriously debated in my own mind whether or not to exclude the subject altogether and confine myself strictly to movements and carriage. However, I have concluded to retain a part which could not well be emitted.
