Synopses & Reviews
In the late 1990s, a little bay horse with white socks and a blaze was born. Dubbed and#147;Fergus,and#8221; he has now traveled the world many times over by print, web, and satellite, inspired a line of merchandise, and gained a devoted following in the hundreds-of-thousands on Facebook and other social media. Who is this horse and how can we explain his magnetism? What makes him so special?
Fergus the Horse (Equus hilarious) is the creation of Jean Abernethy, and the truth is, he isnand#8217;t meant to represent any one breed or discipline. Perhaps itand#8217;s this generic and#147;everyhorseand#8221; quality thatand#8217;s led to his popularity. and#147;When fans write, and#145;Fergus reminds me of my horse,and#8217; I cannot be paid a higher compliment,and#8221; says Abernethy. And itand#8217;s his expressiveness, honesty, charm, and keen sense of humor that truly wins our hearts.
Now Abernethy has brought together the backstory of Fergus the Horseand#151;how he came to be, his early years, the history of his and#147;friendsand#8221;and#151;and combined it with his and#147;greatest hits,and#8221; including most-loved comic strips, some personal sketches, and brand new additions. The result is a lively, colorful, highly illustrated treasury that will entertain anyone with an eye for a horse and a need for a laugh.

and#147;Fergus is that rare example of a horse with his hooves in two communities: He speaks for horses, and he speaks for people who love them. When I read a Fergus comic panel, I always chuckle, first loudly and then ruefully because the comic is funnyandmdash;and Iand#8217;ve been in that situation before.and#8221;andmdash;Larri Jo Starkey, Editor, The American Quarter Horse Journal
"Jean Abernethy has an artistic gift and a comic wit that makes us all grin. I am thrilled that so many of Fergus's adventures can now be viewed together in a book."andmdash;Lisa Wysocky, Author of My Horse My Partner and the Cat Enright Equestrian Mystery Series
and#147;Iand#8217;ve only recently become acquainted with Fergus, but we immediately hit it off. Heand#8217;s just the kind of horse I like to get to know and figure outand#151;not afraid to speak his mind, a great sense of humor, and he can teach us all a thing or two. Horses have always been my greatest teachersand#133;but Fergus is the first animated one!and#8221;andmdash;Jonathan Field, Trainer, Clinician, and Author of The Art of Liberty Training for Horses
