Synopsis
The delightfully told account of how President Theodore Roosevelt known for his Rough Riders, his bully pulpit and his admonition to walk softly and carry a big stick ? showed his compassion and respect for life by not shooting a peaceful black bear on a long-anticipated big bear hunt. The act moved a newspaper cartoonist to draw the scene with a big Teddy Roosevelt, as he was called, and a very little bear, and inspired a candy store man, an immigrant, to honor the president with a toy bear: the very first teddy bear.
