Synopses & Reviews
The Listening Day is a collection of 90 devotional readings to help you enter God’s passionate invitation to know him today.
To God, all times are the present — and the Father invites us to know him now. We must learn to quiet ourselves and listen for his voice every day.
Each entry begins with scripture to meditate upon throughout your day. Paul J. Pastor then invites you to listen in on an intimate conversation with God — what he hears the Lord saying through those scriptures and, in one or two lines, his own reply. The reflections are crafted to show us anew our God, who encourages, rebukes, laughs, invites, and instructs. Each day’s reading ends with a short prayer and a simple suggestion for deeper response to help you know and experience God’s rich presence in your life.
The Listening Day will sharpen your mind and deepen your soul as you travel your own path on Christ’s Way.

"Against the cacophony of our boisterous and bombastic times, it is very difficult to find solitude and rest. We race through our days and fail to live in the present. The Listening Day stirs the heart and stills the mind so that we can listen to God’s Word and respond in the quiet. Renewing and enlivening. Just what the spiritual doctor ordered." Paul Louis Metzger, PhD, Professor of Christian Theology and Culture, Multnomah University and author of Evangelical Zen: A Christian’s Spiritual Travels with a Buddhist Friend

It is clear that each meditation is the fruit of unhurried time spent in the presence of God. As you read, you will be nourished..." "God speaks in these pages. As someone who has sat weeping in the church parking lot because of personal tragedy, I’m telling you: God will speak to you here. If God has been silent, if God seems far off, or cruel, then come rediscover the surprising depths of his kindness and love in this book."
