Synopsis
Excerpt from The Pneumatic Player: The Regulation and Repair of Some Modern Types
N t/ze following c/zapters on player-piano actions, t/teir regulation and repair, I do not intend to use tbc language of science, and t/iis for two reasons. T/ie first is tbat per/taps a few of my readers nut not understand tuat lingo and tile second reason is Mat 1 do not myself. Fascinating as it mt be to explain tuat every pneumatic, w/ien at rest, contains billions of atmosp/zeric molecules, and that cac pneumatic is sur rounded by an equal number of billions, w/iicn latter turn wit/z t/ze utmost fury and slam to tbe pneumatic w/ien tbeir fellows in tue interior are reduced in num ber by suction. Yet to a majority of tuners a know ledge of sue/z facts is quite unnecessary. t is enougn for one to observe the worn, and to know just bow to regulate and maintain t/ie movements of eacn part.
