Synopsis
With the loss of his beloved wife and the strains of World War Two still raging around him, Captain Leif Svenerson places care of his ten month old daughter Lori into the hands of the Liverpool Welfare Department. The child is quickly, and mistakenly, taken into a Children's Home, and little Lori (now Lowry) is plunged into a brutal world of cruelty and neglect. Longing for the mum and dad she never knew, the child's seeming abandonment frames a life of strong willed resolution and tenacious resolve. All the while, an alcohol riddled Captain Svenerson seeks to find his vanished daughter, and provide to her the self-recovery she thought lost.
