I saw this book's review on here by Beth and decided to try it myself. I cherish anything related to WWII and the author immediately gives readers a strong appreciation for the soldiers who fought at Normandy. The book is trimmed of any fat and I wish all books had this comfortable length. Although the beginning is a fictional story, you can tell how closely this writer studied his material because the picture he gives of the first hours of D-Day feels like you are there yourself. It was scary how real the details were. It is something I am glad my kids have read because they know what these heroes did so that people could live in a free world. Besides providing readers with the experiences the soldiers had to endure on this terrible day, Tyler also told of his visit to this battleground with his two older generations. He gives his advice on anyone wishing to visit the area in the future including the reccomendation of a highly respected tour guide that his family used. The book is both a great travel guide and a story in history that should never be forgotten.

I just had to spend a few moments to tell people about this interesting book. Tyler Hill is a new writer it looks like and I hope he will continue to write because my husband and I greatly appreciate books like these. He gives you not only the story of his visit to Normandy with his grandfather, but he has written a truly special prologue that no doubt took much time and research. You would think he himself was a participant in the war! He tries to sell his generation on how important it is to honor the past and we just loved every page of this short and meaningful book. Anyone who has lost a child because of war will love this book!!
