Excerpt from The Smoke Nuisance
The present pamphlet is intended to provide this inter change of ideas and to promote a tendency towards uniform legislation, and generally to create an intelligent public opinion on the smoke nuisance and to indicate measures of effective remedy.
The pamphlet contains Mr. Olmsted's original leaflet brought up to date, with references to the recent statutes and ordinances. It also contains the helpful paper of Mr. George W. Welden, of the New York, New Haven Hartford Railroad, on The Smoke Nuisance on Railroad Locomotives, which paper was read at the Providence meeting Of the Ameri can Civic Association in November, 1907; also the larger part of Paul M. Chamberlain's paper on Boiler Room Economy, delivered before the Milwaukee meeting of the International Association for the Abatement of the Smoke Nuisance.
