Written by psychologist and bestselling author Matthew McKay, charismatic Silicon Valley spiritual leader Seán ÓLaoire, and bestselling author Ralph Metzner, Why? will help you see what your past and present experiences are telling you about the spiritual theme in your life; one that is visible when you know how to read the signs. Your experiences may be that of a Healer/Peacemaker, an Explorer/Scientist, a Warrior/Guardian, an Artist/Designer, a Teacher/Communicator, or a Builder/Organizer. By showing you how to uncover your unique path, this book will help you discover your lifes true meaning.

"East is East and West is West, but Michael Singer bridges these two great traditions in a radiant treatise on how to succeed in life from our spiritual quest to our everyday tribulations. Freud said that life was composed of love and work. With great eloquence, wit, and compelling logic, Singer’s brilliant book completes this thought by showing them to be two poles of the same selfless devotion."
—Ray Kurzweil, inventor, National Medal of Technology recipient and author of The Age of Spiritual Machines, The Singularity is Near, and other books
"This is a seminal book that quite frankly is in a class by itself. In a simple, yet paradoxically profound way, Michael Singer takes the reader on a journey that begins with consciousness tethered to the ego, and ends having taken us beyond our myopic, contained self-image to a state of inner freedom and liberation. Michael Singer’s book is a priceless gift to all who have futilely searched and yearned for a richer, more meaningful, creative life."
—Yogi Amrit Desai, internationally recognized pioneer of modern yoga
"The Untethered Soul, in a clear practical manner, shows the reader how to achieve the real goal of human life—self-realization."
—Bikram Choudhury, founder of Bikram Yoga and worldwide Yoga College of India
The Untethered Soul
is indeed one of the finest treatments of the nature and practice of the conscious use of consciousness that I have ever read
. It is the clearest statement I know of who we are and what we face in our emerging humanity.”
Jean Houston, philosopher, psychologist, and author of A Mythic Life and Passion for the Possible
Psalm 42:8 says, Deep calls unto deep. Within each human soul there is a longing for more, and the thirst can be quenched only by God. In The Untethered Soul
, Michael A. Singer helps the modern person who is seeking this experience to come to a better understanding of the action in their soul. I highly recommend this reflection of one soul to another on the journey.”
Fr. Paul Wierichs, CP, director of the Passionist Monastery and Spiritual Center of Our Lady of Florida
At its core, this book allows the modern Western mind to explore the deep meaning of an ageless, universal truth: Earth is a place where souls are sent to evolve. Why? goes beyond philosophy and offers practical guidelines for mindfully participating in ones own evolutionary process.”

Angeles Arrien, PhD, cultural anthropologist, author of The Four-Fold Way and Living in Gratitude
This little book has a very big goal, nothing less than helping readers discover their life purpose. They accomplish this task by pulling from the wisdom of the past, as well as by providing provocative exercises that direct readers toward self-knowledge. Many books have similar goals, but few have succeeded as well as McKay, ÓLaoire, and Metzner, and have done so in such an engaging and reader-friendly style.”
Stanley Krippner, PhD, coauthor of Personal Mythology and Demystifying Shamans and Their World
