Synopsis
The enthusiastic reception by students, scholars, and the general public to the 1988 publication of the schomburg Library of Nineteenth -Century Black Women Writers more than justified the efforts of twenty- five scholars and the staff of the Black Periodical Literature Project to piece together the fragments of knowledge about the writing of African American women between 1773 and 1910.
