Synopses & Reviews
This illustrated color review contains 100 randomly organized cases in a question and answer format, perfect for clinicians to use to hone their skills in thoracic imaging and diagnosis.
It covers a wide range of problems from basic radiographic cases such as tuberculosis, pulmonary masses and mediastinal masses, to more challenging cases of cystic fibrosis, asbestos, sarcoidosis and alveolar cell carcinoma. Questions, supplemented by photographs, diagrams, and x-rays, appear on the rightside pages, and answers follow on the next, leftside page, complete with differential diagnosis, complications, and management.
This is an ideal review for clinicians both in practice and in training, from hospital-based doctors preparing for higher qualifications to established physicians seeking to continue their professional development.
Review
The illustrations, 117 radiographs of the chest and 118 CT chest images, are well represented.... A useful list of classfication of cases and a glossary of terms are provided. This inexpensive book is a good value, and its small size will allow it to be carried along for quick reference. The book is a good foundation for any radiologist involved in the interpretation of thoracic images, and although it is primarily aimed at junior residents in Radiology, physicians and surgeons interested in this field of investigation would find it very useful in their daily practice. The cases presented range from the very simple to those that may prove extremely complex to diagnose and that will challenge even experienced radiologists. This book, therefore, is ideal as a self-assessment exercise and quite effective in the preparation for the Board of Radiology.--Clinical ImagingEasy to use. It can be ready cover to cover, or picked up in spare moments to flip through a few questions. The information given in both the questions and answers is accurate and robust. The cases presented include relevant information and findings.--Respiratory Care Each case is presented with relevant imagery and focused questions, and answers describe various aspects of the case, including differential diagnosis, complications, and management. --SciTech Book NewsConcise description of the findings and brief summary of the disease process...a great resource...for oral boards...well organize...its descriptions of the findings and brief differential diagnoses are good. --Doody's Book ReviewsRecommended to radiologists in training, especially those taking the FRCR examination, as well as physicians in thoracic medicine, or those taking the MRCP.
