Synopsis
Excerpt from Through North Wales: With a Knapsack
Our friends warned us against the expedition, and prophesied calamity, and were good enough to pro vide us with advice so varied in kind, that when we did start, we were prepared - so far as precept might avail - to meet any catastrophe travelling humanity can sustain.
Despite these difficulties, and many of a much more tangible nature, the Originator, who has the spirit of a born entrepreneur, triumphed. She studied maps and routes, gathered information from the few who were qualified to give it, soothed alarms, and con quered in detail each objection as it arose.
